Our firm is known for its outstanding reputation in representing public school districts for education litigation cases. For over 40 years, we have represented school districts in all aspects of the Education Law in Albany County, NY.

Our education law attorneys serve as general counsel to school districts, our representation has encompassed every facet of the Education Law, Civil Service Law and General Municipal Law including but not limited to:

  • Labor negotiations
  • Appeals to the State Review Officer
  • Appeals to the Commissioner of Education
  • Prosecuting Section 75 matters under the Civil Service Law of the State of New York
  • Conducting Section 3020-a hearings under the Education Law
  • Providing legal advice and counsel concerning employee disciplinary matters, including preparation of grievance responses
  • Defending school districts in tax certiorari proceedings
  • Representing districts before the Public Employment Relations Board, EEOC, and in state and federal courts
  • Development of policies and procedures

At the request of the school districts we represent, our firm presents workshops and seminars to staff and administrators on topics including but not limited to: Fair Labor Standards Act, discipline, special education law, harassment, professionalism in the workplace and discrimination.

The members of our firm have an expertise in the area of special education law. We participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and Section 504 meetings. In addition, we defend our districts at impartial due process hearings. Members of our firm have presented to both the local and State bar associations on the topic of special education law.

Our firm is praised by its clients for its close and constant monitoring of the changes in Federal and New York State Law and Regulations as it pertains to all aspects of the Education Law. School districts are promptly notified of these changes and our firm together with the respective districts work in collaboration to determine if new policies must be developed or if in-service seminars should be provided to educate administration and/or staff of these changes in the law.
