Peter is an accomplished attorney with extensive experience spanning over three decades in criminal, civil, municipal and employment law. Peter has dedicated his professional career to helping those most in need. As Bureau Chief of the Albany County District Attorney’s Office’s Special Assault Unit, he prosecuted all crimes involving Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Crimes Against Children. Later, as the Albany County Public Defender, he directed an office that provided legal representation for clients accused of felony and misdemeanor crimes and Family Court violations.

Peter also served as the Chief Attorney for the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Department’s Committee on Professional Standards where he supervised a staff that investigated confidential attorney grievance matters.

Peter’s extensive experience in municipal law includes representing the City of Watervliet in labor matters and contract negotiations with the PBA, UFFA and CSEA. He also served as Chief Attorney for the Albany County Sheriff’s Office where he advised the Sheriff on all civil matters related to that office.

Peter is a retired City Court Judge where he presided over both civil and criminal dockets. He primarily sat in the City of Watervliet, the City of Albany and the City of Troy.

Peter also served as Of Counsel to a national employment law firm where he was a part of the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of their Collegiate and Professional Sports Practice Group, and the White Collar and Government Enforcement Practice Group.

Peter earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Union College (1985) and a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School (1991). He began his professional career as a legislative aide and press secretary in the Washington, DC office of U.S. Representative Samual S. Stratton.
